[ # ] Bought a Toshiba Tecra M7 Tablet PC but
January 9th, 2007 under Partners and Alliances

I bought a Toshiba Tecra Tablet PC and am still getting up to speed with the tablet functions.

But now, it’s going back. I have a strange problem with the screen. There seems to be dust just under the surface of the screen gathered around the centre. It’s irritating.

I’m currently waiting for Toshiba to replace my screen.

Did they end up replacing your screen?

Toshiba is a terrible company at fixing warranty complaints. I own a Tecra tablet M7 which has the same dust problem. The dust gets under the screen due to a faulty latch design on the top. Toshiba has admitted that this is a problem but yet refuses to do anything about it and states that it is a common problem among laptop computers. Despite having a three year warranty on the machine they will not do anything to help resolve my issue. If anyone has had similar issues with the Tecra M7 contact me because I plan to begin the process of arbitrating the warranty and a class action would help.

And did your replacement M7 not have that same problem with dust in the screen?

Was it a different latch design or what did they do?
By any chance do you know who you dealt with at toshiba because i could really use some help?

Also did you find that your battery only lasted like 20 min max?

replacement didnt have the same problem and works well.

As far as I remember I spoke to Toshiba support in the UK but my local reseller got it through for me, O’Neill IT in Cork.

The battery life is very very poor. At max power on battery, yes probably only 20 minutes, but on long life I am getting about 1.5 hours

I bought the extension battery which gives me up to 4 hours.

It’s also not as fast as similiar spec other brand machines we have in the office

Yea for me on long life battery i only get 20 minutes.

On the new m7 did it still have a latch on the top because thats where the dust gets in? or did they have a new design for it.
